Thos. Lees, 6th Regiment of Foot, age 48, born abt 1722, served 27 years, Worn Out, Born at Colerain[e], Ireland, a Weaver, 7 Mar 1770

Andrew Lee, Born Abt 1750 Balaghy, Londonderry [Bellaghy]. Served 9 years in 9th Dragoons; 18 years in 18th Dragoons (Light). Discharged 30 May 1794 aged 44 Rheumatic and worn out. 5 feet 9 1/2 inches, Tailor by trade. “recommended to be an out-pensioner that he may be able by his trade to maintain his six children”. Andrew Lee lived in 51 Queen Street, Dublin. In February 1808 he applied for a pension after suffering bankruptcy with his tailor trade.
[There is a deed of an Andrew Lee, Taylor in Dublin, here is a partial transcription; “A meml of an Indented Deed of Assignment bearg date the 31 Dec 1802 and made between Andw Lee of the City of Dublin, Taylor, to Jno Odlum of Arran Quay, City of Dublin, Esq, of the other part […] by Indre date 20 Oct 1786 […]” v.543 / pg.564 / f.365043.]

James Lays, born abt 1778 born Artrea parish, Artrea town, Tyrone, Ireland; enlisted in Belfast 17 May 1800 and joined the 23rd Regiment of Foot, the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Corporal Lays was wounded four times; at Copenhagen in the year 1807 he lost the sight of his right eye by the prick of a bayonett. Twice at Martinique in the year 1809 through the left left and in the mouth, and at Alb?nia in ? in the left thigh. [signed] Tho. Smith & A. Simson 23rd Regt. James was discharged in 1821 aged 43.

Thomas Lee, b. abt 1779, Colour Sergeant, 54th Or West Norfolk Regiment Of Foot, born in Lisle, near in the town of Derry in the County of Derry, enlisted 1 Feb 1800, served for 19 years and 23 days, until 24 Feb 1819. Height 5 feet 11 1/2 inches, fair hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, by trade a Labourer. [does “Lisle” refer to the townland of Lislea in Kilrea, or elsewhere?]. Thomas reenlisted 25 Feb 1819 and served until 24 Mar 1821 in the Royal Regiment Of Veterans. Given allowance for family, wife Ann and three children residing in Waterford.

James Lees, born about May 1780 Maghera, Derry, a Nailer by trade, served in the 72nd Regiment of Foot, in Colonel James Stewart’s Company. He is described as being 5 foot 8 inches, Dark compextion, Round face, Grey eyes, Dark hair. He enlisted aged 21 and 2 months on July 1800 at Newry. He was discharged 24 December 1801 with the observation “Clan Alpines”.

Robert Lee, Single, Gunner, b. abt 1858 Derryloran, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, Scutcher, attested 11 Jun 1887 at Londonderry, Londonderry R.G.A. Regiment, Service Number 452, Roman Catholic, present or former Master Mr W. Adair, Cookstown. Discharged permanently Unfit 10 Jun 1893. Address Honeymoon St, Gortinlowry, Co Tyrone.
